Hard to believe but this morning I weighed in at 157 - 2 pounds from the goal the doctor set for me.
Christmas was great - family and fun. And we saw the new Sherlock Holmes movie - good flick.
De-clutter is my word for 2012 but I've actually been working on de-cluttering material items for over 2 years, a little at a time, and I can finally see results from that task. De-cluttering physical items from a 20 year marriage and a child, as well as my tendency to want to collect things ... I decided to tackle it a little at a time. It feels good to have the burrow to the point where I can pretty much put my hands on anything I'm looking for, and I don't feel like I'm tripping over clutter. What I've learned from the long de-cluttering journey is that I have not once missed a single material item that I either gave away or threw away.
For de-cluttering in 2012 I plan to continue my weekly task for the small material items to make sure clutter doesn't take over the burrow again, but will also focus on de-cluttering other elements in my life - cooking simpler and more natural foods and meals, streamlining my gardening, streamlining my cleaning chores, being more flexible, turning off the TV ...
I wish all a very happy and happy new year.

Are you trying to get back to where you were with the band or have you already passed that point?
ReplyDeleteI have to admit, I have thrown stuff out that I regretted. I had a box I never unpacked through 3 moves and so I figured I must not need whatever was in it so I threw it away. It had some of my HS and College yearbooks in it!
But in general I have firm "no more stuff than you have places to put it" policy. When I buy new clothes, I get rid of some I never wear, for example.
